Passed eJPT + questions on certificate

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I passed the exam 3 days ago, it was really a great experience, you have to think outside the box, combining what you've learned in the courses and labs.

The course was very good, no many slides with a bunch of needless information, it goes straight to the point and teaches what you really need to know to be a good junior pentester.

I already did other vendors' certifications but I would say elearnSecurity has proven it deserves its place in the industry.

I have 2 questions left :

- Are the remaining lab times transferred to another course we subscribe or it's only tied to one?

- After passing the exam, I received my "certification" but looking deeper, it's written "Certificate of Completion" which is different from Professional Certificate (https://www.grantcredential.org/why-certify/certification-vs-certificate-of-completion/ ), Certificate of completion shows a candidate has attended one course, We see many around like in Cybrary or Ec-council "certificate of attendance" if you finish the course only. But the title "certificate" like on Security+, CEH, CISSP, etc gives more weight and value in a CV/resume. With all good contents and professional administrated exams, I think that elearnSecurity must have a "Certificate" title on top because some external people could consider it as an entity that just provides courses and a little test  (not calling it a rigorous exam) as Cybrary does.

I think all people here like me have trusted elearnSecurity to invest money and time for gaining knowledge, and we are supporting it by talking around about the good contents, so elearnSecurity should fight too to gain a "Certificate" title with accreditation from ANSI/ ISO 172024, and by the occasion provides digital badges on acclaim for example, as many other members suggested in the forum.

Thank you again for the good work and support on the forum, I am confident elearnSecurity will become in the coming years a reference regarding practical learning.

Rgds.

Exactly right. Why eLearn hasn't commented on this yet, is odd, but I hope they do because it's important. Agree 100%.

+1

I'm also interested in the "Certificate of Completion" discussion. As far as I know, here we are only talking about Certifications: https://www.elearnsecurity.com/certification/

I don't know if there are legal implications in not using the word "Certification" in the final document, but I do believe it should be there.

Has anybody received a follow-up from eLS?

"Certificate of Completion"

Is the weakest for of certification and does not reflect the massive amount of work to get it. It is okay for PTS and the related exam, because answering 10 questions is e.g. udemy style but for all other certs something else would be much better.

eLearnSecurity was unknown for years, but the company gets more and more attention. In the US the eCPPT certification is nearly never mentioned, not more than 20 companies use it for job positions, maybe because of "Certfication of Completion". HR has no idea about the related work.

No response from eLS so far, I'd really like an answer on this

This is really starting to annoy me; I'm starting to get a bad taste in my mouth about ELS.

You have to wait, you can not do more. It is a bad idea to sent another email, because you will lose your position in the waiting line. It should not take so long to get a response.

Yea, the post is over a month old and an important topic; would be nice to at least have an acknowledgement from eLS. I know they are addressing other issues.

Still nothing. Whatever the answer is, it'd be nice to know; I am sure it couldn't be that difficult to let us know why.

It is not a simple decision to change a certificate. It is more than just changing a name, because each name has different consequences and meanings by the law. eLS was founded in Italy and was for years a small company. Now, it is owned by a US company, but if you check the financial situation, it is still a “small” company and unknown. They do not have many employees and to answer this question and a possible change you need to ask a lawyer.

Because of the reputation, they might think about it and should, but that is nothing that you can decide in one month.

We can quickly do a reality check and see how popular eLS certs are. LinkedIn will give a hint and will tell you a number of how many people have this certification taken in the last 10 years:

eJPT
US: 524
World: 1800

eCPPT
US:151
World:746

eCPTX
US: 17
World: 83

eWPT
US: 122
World:562

eWPTX
US:22
World:204

OSCP as reference, similar cert to eCPPT
US: 3800
World:14,000

Now, you can do the same search for job postings. It is easy to see that if you take an eLearnSecurity certification, you do it for your personal growth. At the moment, this is changing and eLS is more and more recognized. However, it is still a long way before eLS is widely known and recognized as an excellent teaching platform for CyberSecurity. They can try to work together with universities and can do much more efficient things than changing a name.

As a result, there can be confidence that study quality has not affected review outcomes, at least for those studies that utilized objective cognitive assessment tools buy tamoxifen uk Nociceptive pain is due to tissue damage with activating nociceptors secondary to tumor invasion into bone, joints, or connective tissues, or is associated with invasive procedures including lumbar puncture, biopsy and surgical intervention 18
