StefanWAustin 342 Report post Posted May 14, 2020 It is up to you. You can skip python and programming languages but it is not a smart idea. As pen tester you should learn as much as you can. I can not write a program in python and it is a disadvantage because I can not automate my scripts. At the moment I can not compete against someone with basic programming skills. Buffer overflow without scripting is a very time consuming thing. Programming makes the difference between 10 minutes and hours... PTS is a basic course as well as PTP but if you do a real pen test these courses are not enough. The PTP gives you the minimum basic knowledge to get the first job, but you have to learn so much more... You have to study thousands of hours on top if it to get a good pen tester.
