PND Lab Vulnerabilities and Remediation

Recommended Posts

Guest sky_Combat@hotmail.com

Hi All,

The PND Lab Vulnerabilities and Remediation do not come with Nessus pre-installed.

I do manual install but stuck at the license activation and the offline activation did not work.

Is there an installation file somewhere within the lab?

It might be better to install it on your local machine. There have been a lot of changes/improvements to Nessus since 2014. You won't have to deal with the offline activation at that point either.

Not obsolete, but there will be differences between the screenshots in the training and the current build of Nessus. Have you used the Nessus offline activation guidance to register the version in the labs?

When I did the course, I was assuming that it was the intention that the student just runs it on their local machine so I didn't bother with whatever was on the lab machine.

And also this.

Have you tried running it with admin privileges? I'll try to see if I can set it up in the lab environment later today and let you know if I had any luck.

So, I was able to generate the challenge key. Make sure you're running the command from an admin shell. Once you get that generated, you should be able to go to the offline registration page and enter that challenge key along with the activation code that should have been emailed to you when you registered for a home account.

If you navigate to the Nessus web console (https://localhost:8834) and try to register it offline (scanner type = offline), it will generate the code for you there as well.
