Networking pp56 - 2.2.5

Recommended Posts

Hello all, in section 2.2.5 (pp56) of the networking module, the second example correctly says that the network notation does not make sense as the bitwise operation AND between the address IP and the netmask would result in

Until here all ok, then it continues by saying that, the address could be a valid one in the same network ( Was it meant to be saying in the network

Am I misunderstanding something? As far as I learned so far, It seems that the network id ( does not make any sense, so how can be the same address deemed as valid in a network that cannot exist?

Thank you, and please let me know if my observation is incorrect.

You are right.

The network does not make sense because it should be written instead. could be a valid IP address in a network.

Well spotted.
