eLearnSecurity Review Contest Terms and Conditions

 

eLearnSecurity is holding a Review Contest to gain real feedback from students which would drive the continuous improvement of current and future training courses.

All entrants to the eLearnSecurity Review Contest agree to comply with the provisions in the following Terms and Conditions.

eLearnSecurity shall have the right to monitor and determine compliance with the eLearnSecurity Review Contest Terms and Conditions, and the right to refuse and remove any entry in violation of these Terms and Conditions.

 

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN.

 

1. Promotion Structure

  1. Promotion period: The promotion begins on August 7, 2017 at 12:00 a.m. PDT and ends on September 30, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

  2. Eligibility: The eLearnSecurity Review Contest is open to everyone who submits a review of an eLearnSecurity training course from January 1, 2017 to September 30, 2017.

  3. Parental Consent: Anyone under the age of 18 who enters the contest must have parental consent.

  4. Length: Reviews must be have a minimum of 50 words.

  5. Format: Reviews may be in any text, audio, or video format.

  6. Originality: Reviews must be original and uncopyrighted works.

  7. Language: Only reviews written in English are accepted.

 

2. How to Enter

  1. Write or record an original, fifty (50)-word or more review of an eLearnSecurity training course you took. You may include photos or videos as part of your review.

  2. Post your review on a publicly available online space such as, but not limited to, your own website or blog, popular cybersecurity forum, or one of the recommended social networks.

    1. Suggested platforms to post reviews on:

      1. Cybersecurity-related forums

        1. TechExams

        2. Reddit (r/hacking, r/netsec, r/netsecstudents, r/HowToHack, etc.)

        3. StackExchange/Quora

        4. HackForums

      2. Websites/Blogs/Social Networks

        1. Personally-owned cybersecurity-centric websites or blogs (shared on social media)

        2. LinkedIn Article

        3. Medium

        4. YouTube

    2. Reviews posted on (or similar to) these platforms will not count as entries:

      1. eLearnSecurity Community Forums (except for links to reviews)

      2. Facebook

      3. Twitter

      4. LinkedIn Groups

      5. Websites, blogs, or forums unrelated to cybersecurity

      6. Websites, blogs, forums, social networks, or online groups with no/minimal activity

  3. Multiple reviews will be counted as separate entries, provided that each review has a different eLearnSecurity training course as the subject.

  4. Reviews which you have previously posted online from January 1, 2017 will be counted as entries.

    1. Older reviews with ongoing activity, or with revisions or updates added, in 2017 will also be considered.

  5. Post the URL(s) and title(s) (if applicable) of your review/s to the Review Contest submissions thread of the eLearnSecurity Community Forums.

  6. Send an email with your personal details and the email address connected to your eLearnSecurity account to kristoffer(at)elearnsecurity.com.

 

3. Judges and Judging Criteria

  1. On or about October 4, 2017, all entries will be judged by the eLearnSecurity team based on the following criteria matrix:

    1. Opinion: We don’t want a summary of the course. Tell us about your experience and your reactions to it.

    2. Audience: You're submitting a review of an IT security training course, so make sure to write one that will be useful to your potential audience, ranging from infosec n00bs to experts.

    3. Guidelines: Adhere to the contest rules, and don’t give out solutions or hints to the exams.

    4. Traction: Eliciting engagement from your peers or the community gets you plus points, so write in a clear, insightful and engaging way.

  2. Entrants may only win once.

 

4. Prizes

  1. Prize descriptions: Ten (10) prizes consisting of ten (10) eLearnSecurity training courses for ten (10) winners, including:

    1. First place: Two (2) winners of an Elite Edition training course, chosen by each winner, which may be from the current suite of existing courses or an upcoming training course to be released in 2017.

    2. Second place: Three (3) winners of a Full Edition training course, chosen by each winner, which may be from the current suite of existing courses or an upcoming training course to be released in 2017.

    3. Third place: Five (5) winners of a Barebone Edition training course, chosen by each winner, which may be from the current suite of existing courses or an upcoming training course to be released in 2017.

  2. Prize redemption: Winners should notify eLearnSecurity of their chosen prize on or before December 31, 2017, 11:59 PM PDT, through an email containing:

    1. Name of the eLearnSecurity training course chosen

    2. Email address connected to the winner’s eLearnSecurity account.

  3. Verification of Eligibility and Award of Prize:

    1. Winners will be notified via telephone and/or Skype and/or email within one (1) business day of the drawing date.

    2. To claim prize, winner must reply with all necessary information and proof of eligibility to eLearnSecurity. Winner must reply and provide all necessary documents within seventy-two (72) hours of notification or prize may, in eLearnSecurity’s sole discretion, be forfeited, and eLearnSecurity will select an alternate potential winner.

    3. If winner is found to be ineligible or not in compliance with these Official Rules, decline to accept the prize, unable to be contacted within the time frame specified above, or if the prize notification is returned as undeliverable, winner will forfeit the prize, and eLearnSecurity will select an alternate potential winner.

    4. All national, federal, state, provincial and local taxes, if any, are your sole responsibility. Winner is solely responsible for determining his or her tax liability.

    5. Prize may not be substituted, assigned or transferred, except eLearnSecurity reserves the right to substitute any prize (or a component thereof) with a prize of equal or greater value for any reason.

  4. Prize conditions:  By accepting prize, where legal, winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image for advertising/trade/publicity purposes by eLearnSecurity without further compensation or notice.

 

5. Authorship

  1. Any entrant may submit more than one unique review. Posting the same review on multiple platforms will contribute to a higher rating on the Traction judging criteria, but will only be eligible for one entry into for the contest.

 

6. Contest Entrants’ Conduct

  1. All entrants of the eLearnSecurity Review Contest understand that any submission should represent a honest review of their training experience with eLearnSecurity.

  2. Entrants shall not submit any review(s) that in whole or in part violates or infringes in any way upon the rights of others; which is unlawful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, invasive of privacy or publicity rights; vulgar, obscene, profane, contains morbid images, or otherwise objectionable material; which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense; gives rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any law, including, but not limited to, HIPAA; or which contains any advertising or any solicitation with respect to products or services.

  3. Entrants shall not submit any review(s) that in whole or in part containing text or imagery that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, hateful, tortuous, defamatory, slanderous, or libelous; or promotes bigotry, racism, hatred, or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age.

  4. All entrants shall not modify, exploit, create derivative works, or otherwise interfere with the material submitted by other entrants. In the event of permitted copying, distribution, or publication of such material, no changes in or deletion of author attribution, trademark legend, or copyright notice shall be made.

  5. Any entrant engaging in tampering with the eLearnSecurity Review Contest, Review Contest Community Forums thread, violation of these Terms and Conditions, or any attempt to defraud eLearnSecurity will result in disqualification; but, disqualification shall not represent the sole remedy available to eLearnSecurity. eLearnSecurity’s failure to enforce any provision of these Terms and Conditions is NOT a waiver of such provision.

 

7. Third Party Rights and Clearances

  1. Proprietary Rights

    1. Submitted reviews must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, and rights of privacy, publicity, or any other proprietary rights of a person or entity, and may require: releases from any individuals mentioned in the review and releases for any other audio and/or audio-visual materials not wholly owned by the participant(s) that are used.

  2. Permissions

    1. If the review contains any material or elements not owned by the entrant(s) and/or are subject to proprietary rights of third parties, the entrant(s) hereby automatically grant(s) or warrant(s) that any third parties owning material included in the submitted review, has(ve) expressly granted to eLearnSecurity the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, edit, publish, translate, and distribute such material (in whole or in part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or hereafter developed for the full term of any copyright that may exist in such material, with the objective to promote the goals of the eLearnSecurity Review Contest and the mission of eLearnSecurity.

  3. Burden of Determination

    1. The burden of determining that any material is not protected by copyright, trademark, rights of privacy, publicity, or any other proprietary rights rests with the entrant. The entrant shall bear the sole liability for any damage resulting from any infringement of copyrights, proprietary rights, or any other harm resulting from such a submission.

  4. Minors

    1. If any person(s) appearing in any video review is (are) under the age of 18, entrant must obtain the original signature of a parent or legal guardian before submitting entry.

 

8. Termination, Cancellation, Suspension, Disqualification

  1. eLearnSecurity reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to consider ineligible any review and disqualify the entrant, or to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the eLearnSecurity Review Contest in whole or in part and without prior notice at any time, if it suspects or finds that:

    1. The review actually or potentially infringes upon any third party’s intellectual property right and/or it is discovered that necessary permissions for an entered review have not been obtained (see Section 7).

    2. The review does not comply with the established entry requirements and/or in the sole discretion of eLearnSecurity the review contains obscene, unlawful, or other objectionable material, as defined in Section 6.

    3. The review is posted on a forum that is on a website, blog, or forum that eLearnSecurity deems as ineligible due to factors such as, but not limited to nature, content, activity, and accessibility.

    4. The review is advertising or promoting products or services.

    5. The entrant commits fraud relating to the entry process or the operation of the eLearnSecurity Review Contest.

    6. The entrant acts in violation of these Terms and Conditions.

 

9. User rights

  1. Entrant grants to eLearnSecurity a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, display, reproduce, edit, publish, translate, and distribute the submitted review, worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or hereafter developed for the full term of any copyright and renewal that may exist in such material, with the objective to promote the goals of the eLearnSecurity Review Contest or the mission of eLearnSecurity.

  2. Entrant grants to eLearnSecurity the right to use any submitted video review to create a trailer or to splice together with other videos for the objective of promoting the goals of the eLearnSecurity Review Contest or the mission of eLearnSecurity. Entrant agrees eLearnSecurity is not required to place acknowledgement (as stated below) on a trailer or spliced work as described in this paragraph.

  3. Entrant grants to eLearnSecurity the right to use the entrants’ names, likenesses, photographs, voices, sounds and/or biographical information and videos in connection with the eLearnSecurity Review Contest and for any and all advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes relating to the eLearnSecurity Review Contest or promoting the mission of eLearnSecurity. Beyond permission granted herein, eLearnSecurity shall not be obliged to compensate the entrant for use of the submitted material, unless prohibited by law.

 

10. Disclaimer of Liability

  1. All entrant(s), by registering with the eLearnSecurity Review Contest agree(s) that eLearnSecurity, its agents, representatives, employees, and contractors, are released and discharged from and against all and any costs, claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses of any sort arising out of, or generally relating to: submission of the material for the eLearnSecurity Review Contest and participation in it, the use of the material by eLearnSecurity, the decisions made or actions taken by eLearnSecurity in connection to the conduct and administration of the eLearnSecurity Review Contest and the acceptance and use on their part of any prize.

  2. eLearnSecurity and its subsidiaries, its agents, representatives, employees, and contractors are not responsible for technical failures of any kind; any problems or delays arising from any technical, software, equipment malfunctions, computer viruses, or congestion; unavailability of the eLearnSecurity Review Contest forum thread; any other technical, equipment, or human errors of any kind with regards to the administration of the eLearnSecurity Review Contest; or any damage or alteration to the entrants’ video that may occur in connection with the uploading or display of the video. Also, eLearnSecurity is not liable for any failure to screen the entered review on the Internet or at any venue.

  3. The entrant(s) specifically acknowledge(s) that eLearnSecurity is not liable for the defamatory, offensive, or illegal conduct of other entrant(s) or of comments made anywhere the review is posted and that the risk of injury from the foregoing rests entirely with the entrant(s); also the entrant(s) waive(s) any right to seek injunctive action or other equitable relief relating to any claim against eLearnSecurity and its agents, representatives, employees, and contractors.

  4. The entrant(s) agree(s) that eLearnSecurity, its agents, representatives, employees, and contractors, are released and discharged from and against all and any costs, claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses of any sort arising out of, or generally relating to: other expense(s), fine(s) incurred, incarceration, personal injury, loss of faculty, or death in connection to the acceptance and use of the entrant(s) of any prize and the performance of the activities included in his/her prize.

  5. The entrant(s) specifically acknowledge(s) that eLearnSecurity is not liable for the entrant(s) not being able to claim his/her prize and/or perform the activities included in his/her prize due to issues of any kind.

 

11. Changes to the Terms and Conditions

  1. eLearnSecurity shall have the right at any time and without prior notice to modify, suspend, or terminate the eLearnSecurity Review Contest or the Terms and Conditions, or any part thereof; and/or impose new rules or guidelines as it considers appropriate. Such changes, modifications, additions, or deletions shall be effective immediately upon notice thereof, which may be given by means including, but not limited to, posting on the eLearnSecurity Review Contest Community Forums thread, sending emails to the entrants, or by any other means by which the entrants obtain notice thereof.

 

12. Alternative Mode of Participation

  1. No purchase is required to enter. Anyone may obtain an eLearnSecurity Penetration Testing Student training course in the Barebone Edition for free by sending an email of request to kristoffer(at)elearnsecurity.com, or by mailing a legible, hand-written letter or postcard to Bada Marketing FZCO, P.O. Box 341148, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, that includes the following information: (1) Entrant's complete name, street address (no P.O. Boxes), city, state/province, country, zip or post/postal code, daytime phone number, age, email address (if available), and (2) the following statement "I have read and agree to the eLearnSecurity Review Contest Terms and Conditions" ("Alternative Mode of Participation").
